How often to wash your hair

Not as often as you think...

I wash my hair once every 10 days! Sounds gross.

But there’s method behind the madness.

Let me explain why you should try and wash your hair less frequently...

Natural hair oils

Our hair produces natural oils, called sebum. These oils are vital to healthy hair.

They nourish your locks, protect them from damage, and maintain their shiny and lustrous look.

Oils also keep hair hydrated, which helps reduce frizz.

Washing too often can strip away these natural oils, causing your hair to dry out. And, making it more susceptible to breakages, split ends and frizz.

Your scalp can also become irritated by overwashing, which disturbs its moisture and balance. This can in turn, lead to dryness and flakiness.

Over-washing can make hair greasy

Why? Because it gets used to the washing.

Your hair begins to expect a regular wash, so grease builds up quicker. This leaves you in a cycle of needing to wash every day.

So, how do you wash less?

Extend the time between washes

Try washing your hair in the morning, then wait until the following evening for your next wash. You’ve already increased the interval from 24 to 36 hours.

Then extend this out to every other day.

Eventually, you’ll be comfortable washing your hair once or twice a week.

Your hair will become healthier.

It’ll look shinier and more lustrous.

And you'll free up more time too!

Refreshing between washes

If you do need a little refresh between washes, our Refresh Spray has been created just for that.

Simply spray and scrunch.

The upward scrunching motion will break up any frizz and reshape your wave pattern.

It's non-sticky. It won’t weigh your waves down. It fits in your bag for on-the-go wave refreshment. It's essential.
